Marginal growth had the German economy in 2013, but the government expects a significant increase for this year, as was said by the German Finance Ministry in view of the disclosure of official statistics. The GDP for 2013 I will be only slightly higher than the previous year, mainly due to the winter months, the statement said, but emphasized that the expected significant increase in 2014. In 2012 the German GDP stood at 2.666 trillion euros, while the economic growth reached 0.7%.
In an interview, Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble said, that the forecast growth of 1.7% in 2014 is rather cautious and highlighted once again the fact that Germany restricts lending as charged in 2013 with less debt of 25.1 billion foreseen and in spite of the extraordinary assistance provided to flood victims.
Mr Schäuble said indeed that, history is on their side. In recent years we borrow forever at the end of the year amounts smaller than provided for in the design. He added that by 2015 the country will not create new debt, thanks to the strong performance of the economy.
